TF SPORT ENDS THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS 2024 WITH ITS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE PODIUM AT CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE
After a journey that lasted more than a week, TF Sport once again savoured the sweet taste of champagne on the podium of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s most prestigious endurance race. The team claimed its fifth consecutive podium - as well as its fifth top-two finish - at Circuit de la Sarthe, with the #14 Oreca 07 Gibson AO by TF climbing the second step of the podium in the LMP2 Pro/Am class.
At the end of a race marked by treacherous weather conditions, a long Safety Car period and a lot of action and duels, Spike achieved an extraordinary result that repaid all the great teamwork. The purple and orange LMP2 car, which started from pole position and finished P6 in the overall class standings, in the hands of PJ Hyett, Alex Quinn and Louis Delétraz managed to overcome every single difficulty throughout the entire race. The drivers and crew did an outstanding job and were rewarded with second place in the LMP2 Pro/Am class - an achievement no one will ever forget.
The eighth 24 Hours of Le Mans disputed by TF Sport, the first ever raced with Corvette, unfortunately did not end with the result the whole team would have deserved. Sting, our #82 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, crossed the finish line in P11. After finishing 7th in the tight battle for the Hyperpole, a few hiccups prevented Daniel Juncadella, Sebastien Baud and Hiroshi Koizumi from achieving a great result after an eventful race that showcased driving skills, concentration and bravery. The entire crew, however, showed great determination and the ability to overcome a few mishaps and managed to drive the car all the way to the chequered flag.
Maya, our #81 Corvette Z06 GT3.R driven by Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy finished a challenging race in P15. After starting from 18th place on the grid, the drivers and crew managed to climb the leaderboard even in what was a difficult weekend: our team knows how to bounce back, and we are confident that we will continue to build on this experience to achieve brilliant results!
As we bid farewell to Spike by thanking him for flying with us, we keep our heads down as we set off towards the next round of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship season: the 6 Hours of San Paulo, Brazil, will take place over the weekend of 14 July!
